Summary:
Working off the success of it's iPod series, Apple released the iPod Touch. It branched out from just being another mp3 player by allowing access to the internet, email, games, and more. It also has touch and tilt capability for more a different type of gaming experience for a handheld device.
The first generation of the iPod Touch was launched on September 5, 2007. It was the first in the line of iPods that had a multi-touch graphical user interface, allowing wireless access to the iTunes store as well as accessing Apple's App store. This allowed users to purchase and download content directly onto the iPod Touch. The 2nd generation came out on September 8, 2009, adding several updates to its hardware with a follow up iPod Touch, which is unofficially reffered to as the 3rd Generation or 3G. It has been making headsway in the gaming market, ganing 5% of the total market revenue in the last year and a half. Its potential could reach other handheld devices success because of its versatile arrangement of games to choose from, most price ranged under 10 dollars. It has had the success of its other counterparts, like the iPod and iPhone.
