GDC 2019 Observation Reports
Ryland informed me that a Ringling Alumni was art director at a company called Rainbow Studious, and he was looking to hire. I stopped at his booth and introduced myself and we exchanged cards.
Not only did I get to connect with a fellow alumni who has been in the industry for a very long time, but I also made a connection with an establish Art lead at a company. This gave me a lot of hope for what comes after Ringling.
I plan to follow up with him and add him on linked in. Reach out and see what positions he is specifically looking for. I have not decided if I would want to live in Arizona, however he did mention that he could do his best to get students in contact with other THQ studios.
While hanging out at the Intel booth I was approached and told to go to the recruiting table. There they set me up with a program that will send me job applications that match my resume.
I’m excited for this situation, I think it will be incredibly useful to receive job applications directly from the hiring staff. Not only will it save time searching job boards, but also find me specific jobs that I am looking for.
I am going to double check with the registration and wait for the information to be sent and if it interests me I will apply to it.
At the Ringling alumni party the recruiter at Naughty Dog approached me and asked what I wanted to do and if I was looking for work. We exchanged cards and she instructed me to add her on linked In and reach out to her.
This was my first time talking to a recruiter, so having her come up to me was made it very easy to handle. She was very nice, and I’m excited to see what will come out of this opportunity.
I plan to add her on linked In like she suggested and sending her an email with a cover letter, then applying through their website.
