Cursor 10 is a rather simple flash game with a rather simple goal. Just as the instructions to Pong, the instructions for Cursor 10 are quite sparse.
The last line gives a hint at the core mechanic that drives the game: overlapping gameplay with oneself through time. When you begin the game, you see a pair of stairs on a blank field along with your cursor. you click the stairs to go to the next level. you continue going through the levels by clicking the stairs with your cursor. eventually you get to a level in which you cannot proceed because when you click on a trigger to make the stairs appear, it only appears while you are clicking the trigger. clearly you cannot be both clicking the trigger and the stairs at the same time with only one cursor. The time runs out, and you think the game is over. The game begins again. suddenly, you see two cursors on the screen. one cursor has the number 1 above it, and the one you are controlling has the number 2 above it. you see the cursor 1 move as you previously did in your last run of the game. you begin moving your cursor through the game, progressing levels the same as before. you get to the level that requires two cursors. suddenly, you are able to progress to the next level because your previous rounds cursor is pressing down the trigger while you are able to click on the stairs at the same time in order to level up. eventually, the screen is filled with overlapping playing cursors as you play through the levels 10 times, attempting to get to the 16th floor.
Very simple and clean, the overlapping gameplay along with the discovery of the mechanic makes this a game that you want to play over and over and over, just in case maybe this time you will be a bit faster and be able to make it to the 16th floor. i have yet to make it to the 16th floor.
good luck!
