Hyung-tae Kim was born in the Febuary of 1978 in Seoul, Korea. In 1988 Kim began creating illustrations for War of Genesis: Tempest. He later joined Softmax, where he created the opening, character designs and sprites for War of Genesis III. In 2001 he released his art book- Oxide- and created the 3-d models, designs and illustrations for the characters of Magna Carta: The Phantom of Avalanche; the next year he was put in charge of the character development department. After he working with Softmax for some time, he joined NC Soft where he since has been working on a MMORPG.
Kim's artwork is known for its strange style that, at times, heavily distorts human anatomy in order to give a character a particular feel. His strange deformations have been even criticized when it comes to his female characters and the emphasis he puts on sexuality; to which he responded: "I think it's pretty reasonable that I hear this comment as I did intend to draw in that way. Sexuality and all its different aspects just interest me, and I plan to continue drawing sexy and charming characters"
