Rand Miller was co-founder of Cyan Worlds with his brother Robyn Miller. Rand and Robyn became famous for their game Myst (Originally for Macintosh) , which became an unexpected hit and remained the best-selling computer game until 2002. Subsequently Rand has worked on sequels for Myst as well as a Myst remake (realMyst). Since the original Myst game Rand has acted out the parts of characters Achenar and Atrus, while Robyn has acted the part of Sirrus. Rand Miller is still CEO of Cyan Worlds , however he is less involved in working out the individual aspects of gameplay, storyline or programming. Instead he focuses on managing the projects of Cyan Worlds.
Rand Miller's work has grown from garage development with his brother Robyn Miller to the actual management of the company he Co-Founded, Cyan Worlds. Miller worked as a programmer in a bank in Texas prior to Cyan (founded 1987). The game Myst forever redefined the genre of adventure games. Such critical and commercial acclaim have produced 4 sequels to Myst and various derivative works such as novels and comics. The Uru Project, which he developed for 7 years, makes for a notable part of his work as he sought to expand Myst into an Online Universe while adapting to
the surfacing of broadband internet.
Myst:
The Myst franchise in general is the main creation of Rand and Robyn Miller.
Myst is a graphic adventure video game that was considered groundbreaking to the adventure-exploration genre at the time of its release (1993). In the world of Myst the player is given the role of "the Stranger", who travels to the island of Myst through a mysterious book. The player explores various environments (in the form of still 3D renders), where he must solve all kinds of interactive environmental puzzles and mind challenges. Amongst its many innovations were its refining of a genre based on story, no interface elements were present or a "death" mechanic. Just the player - and the world.

The Uru Project:
Uru: Ages beyond Myst is an adventure video game and continuation to the Myst canon. Released in 2003 and published by Ubisoft the title would be the 4th game to the Myst series. Unlike previous game, Uru takes place in modern times and players are able to see their character in third person. The game was originally envisioned as an online multiplayer world but such prospective ultimately failed. Rand Miller did announce on E3 2006 that Myst Online:Uru Live is one of his current Cyan World's current projects focused on reviving the concept of Myst as an online multiplayer.
