ART200: Level 2 Visual Art
Head of Department:
Course Description
Level 2 Art students extend technical art-making skills and critique learned at Level 1 to develop their own creative project within Drawing and Painting/Digital Painting. There is also an option for students to specialise in Printmaking or Sculpture within this class. Students will research and be introduced to a range of relevant artists' approaches, learning ways in which they can apply these ideas to their own art, driving the development of an idea within a chosen theme. Teaching of technical skills is individualised to students’ likes and needs within their portfolio development. Emphasis is placed on independent ways of working, critique, idea development and creative problem-solving. Students will feel confident to take risks in their design work, embrace failures, and see them as opportunities to problem-solve.
We usually go on an art trip to a gallery during the year. This is an opportunity for boys to experience art in a gallery context which they can then relate to their own work and creative processes.
