Course Description
Commerce is the use and exploration of accounting, economic, and business concepts to help make sense of society and solve problems. In this subject you will build the knowledge, skills and values to participate in the economic world. You will also learn how people in the economic world make decisions and explore how these decisions impact on sustainability.
Students will also learn about different approaches to Commerce and will examine Māori and Pacific perspectives.
Topics covered include:
The financial decision-making processes used by businesses
The factors that influence at what price goods and services are sold
The impact of events on financial relationships
The affect events have on the viability of an organisation.
Prerequisite
None, however sound literacy skills are helpful to cope with the level of writing in this course.
Assessment
Three or four 5 credit Achievement Standards with a mix of internal and external assessments
