Course Description 

This course will be tailored to individual student’s needs and interests. A selection of achievement standards including performance, composition, arrangement, research, music theory and analysis will be offered. This course extends and develops the practical skills and the understanding of musical materials acquired in Level 2.

Topics covered: Solo performance • group performance • composition • aural skills • score reading.

Pre-requisite

At least 14 successful credits at Level 2 Music or by consultation with HOD Music.

Assessment

Assessments will incorporate both formative and summative exercises throughout the year. Performances, composition tasks and research assignments will be assessed with the criteria set down by NZQA for NCEA Level 3.
