9SCI: Year 9 ScienceĀ
Course Description
The Year 9 Science programme is an exciting and vibrant new learning environment where the young Scientists will be able to explore Level 4 of the Science curriculum within and beyond the Silverstream Environment. A thematic approach will be taken to encompass each of the five strands of the New Zealand Science Curriculum throughout the year. Each class will explore a variety of learning strategies including inquiry and project based learning programmes. For more information go to the Science Department Website.
Topics Covered: Living World, Material World, Physical World, Planet Earth and Beyond, Nature of Science.
Assessments will be a range of practical and theory work, where students will be given the opportunity to utilise a range of modes including practical demonstrations, video explanations, audiovisual presentations, and written checkpoints. Students will demonstrate all their skills in a science fair project at the end of the year.
