HMT100: Level 1 Hard Materials
Head of Department:
Course Description
Students will develop an outcome for an authentic context using resistant materials. They will need to transform, manipulate or combine different materials to create an outcome. Throughout this process, an investigation of different materials and construction techniques is required to determine a feasible technology outcome.
Projects will stem from 5 major Māori principles: Manaakitanga / Whanaungatanga / Kotahitanga / Kaitiakitanga / Auahatanga
Topics covered: Investigating and authentic context / Material properties investigation / testing and trailing various techniques and materials to develop a technological outcome.
Recommendation for subject entry
Preference is given to students who have completed Year 10 Hard Materials (10HMT) or Year 10 Design and Visual Communication (10DVC)
