10MAO: Year 10 Te Reo Māori
Course Description
Knowledge of Te Reo and Tikanga Māori are essential skills in many careers. This course will enable students to communicate in Te Reo within a range of familiar situations using appropriate listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Students will also develop an understanding and appreciation of Tikanga Māori - Māori values and customs. Learning of mau taiaha occurs in Term 2 and is taught by an experienced tutor.

Pre-requisite
Year 9 Maori, or equivalent
Assessment
Students learning programmes will be personalized, so far as the achievement standards each student will complete. Regular topic based assessment takes place throughout the year involving the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students are assessed in both formal and informal situations.

This course leads to the Level 1 Te Reo Māori course.
Course contributions
Students are asked to contribute $30 towards the cost of a workbook and a marae visit.
