Introduction to Course Selection 2023

This Curriculum site contains the information you need to plan your course for next year and beyond. Planning a course requires thought and careful consideration. Choosing subjects for the following year is an important process because of the implications for future subject choices, requirements for tertiary study and future career pathways.

At St Patrick’s, Silverstream we aim to provide a personalised programme which enables each student to achieve personal excellence.

We offer a wide range of subjects; many provide the opportunity to gain credits towards NCEA through Achievement Standards and some are assessed against Unit Standards on the National Qualification Framework.

The College is accredited to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority to assess students against Unit Standards in a variety of subject areas.

Course Contributions are voluntary contributions that the College requests to enable us to deliver the curriculum over and above our operational funding. The amounts for each subject are itemised and cover compulsory trips, workbooks and other resources used in that subject. There may be additional charges made for the cost of any extra-curricular or optional activities/resources or for Technology projects that a student may choose to make and keep to take home.

Read this site carefully, talk with your Tutor, Heads of Department, Teachers in Charge of subjects, Deans, Ms Heath & Mrs Kurton (Careers Department) for further advice and guidance. The steps outlined here are designed to help you with your decision making.
