Course Description ENG100
Level One English offers students the ability to explore an increasingly sophisticated range of texts across a theme or genre. They will be challenged to consider how text creators manipulate techniques and ideas to position the reader/audience for a purpose. There will be a strong focus on developing writing skills in this course, in conjunction with exploring how language creates meaning. Students will complete one internal and two external assessments.

Assessment
Assessment will include a combination of internal and external achievement standards in this 15 credit course:
(1.2) Develop ideas in writing using stylistic and written conventions - 5cr
(1.3) Demonstrate understanding specific aspects of studied text - 5cr
(1.4) Unfamiliar Texts - 5cr (External)

This alternative course offers students a selection of literacy-rich learning experiences and opportunities to enhance their communication skills. It is designed for students who are yet to achieve the Literacy Co-requisites and require support in preparing for these assessments. The standards in this course provide students with a range of practical English skills required in our modern world, as well as opportunities to develop their creative writing skills further.
