Course Description ENG100
This course offers students the ability to explore a range of texts across a theme or genre. There will be a strong focus on developing writing skills, in conjunction with exploring how ideas and language create meaning. Students will complete two internal and two external assessments.
Topics covered: • Writing • Written Text • Visual Text • Oral Presentation • Connections
Assessment
Assessment will include a combination of internal and external achievement standards in this 20 credit course:
(1.1) How context shapes verbal language use - 5cr
(1.2) Demonstrate understanding specific aspects of studied text - 5cr
(1.3) Produce Crafted Writing - 5cr (External)
(1.4) Unfamiliar Texts - 5cr (External)
Prerequisite
Students will have passed both 32403 Literacy Reading & 32405 Literacy Writing, however final placement will be made by English staff based on students’ achievement in Year 10 English.

Course Description LIT101
This course offers support to learners with the greatest literacy needs. Students will focus on achieving the Literacy corequisites, and will complete Level 1 Unit Standards. Selection is by recommendation of Learning Support staff and English teachers.
Topics covered: • Listening and conversation skills • Writing personal correspondence • Producing a CV and filling in forms • Construct and deliver an oral text• Film Study
Assessment
All assessments are internal.
Prerequisite
Students will be placed into this course by staff based on their learning needs and achievement in Year 10 English.
