Course Descriptions MAT200
Students taking this course will be prepared for those Level 3 courses that require some mathematics with a statistical and applied mathematical focus, such as Geography and Biology. It is a course that can provide students who are not mathematics specialists the chance to focus on their preferred subjects, while still enabling progress in general mathematics and providing a pathway to a similar course at Level 3.

Recommendation for subject entry
13 credits in MAT100 (with a pass in Chance and Data) or completion of MAT102 course. Entry from MAT101 only at discretion of HOD.
Assessment
In class tests, NCEA internal and external assessments.

Course Description MAT202
Students taking this course will be prepared for those Level 3 courses that require specialist mathematical skills with a scientific mathematical focus, such as Engineering, Calculus, Sciences and Economics. It is a course that provides students who are mathematics specialists the chance to explore their mathematical ability, enabling progress in pure and applied mathematics and providing a pathway to a similar course at Level 3.

Course Description MFN200
This course is ideal for students who are still developing their understanding of Mathematics and Numeracy. Students will be supported to attain their Numeracy qualification, which is needed for any other NCEA L1, L2, or L3 qualification.
Recommendation for subject entry
Students who do not yet have their NCEA Numeracy Qualification.
Assessment
US 32406 - Apply mathematics and statistics in a range of everyday situations (10 Credits)
L1 or L2 Mathematics standards, which are tagged for Numeracy.
