Course Description
Students in this course will explore four major topics covering History, Geography, Democracy/Dictatorships, and Aotearoa New Zealand. This gives Year 10 students a taste of potential option subjects for NCEA Level One, and builds upon existing knowledge from Year 9 History. Students will be exposed to a variety of case studies and resources from around the globe. Skills specific to each discipline will also be promoted throughout the year.
Topics covered: Human Rights, Contemporary Geographic Issues, Systems of Government, History of Aotearoa after 1840.
Assessment
Each major topic will include a written assessment of approximately 800-1000 words.
