10ENG: Year 10 English
Course Description
English enables us to communicate with others and share and receive information, in both written and spoken forms. This course builds on basic literacy skills learned in Year 9, such as reading, writing, and comprehension by looking deeply at poetry, short stories, creative and formal writing, film and novels. Students will learn to look deeper into their texts and make meaning and understanding by linking them to the wider world.
Year 10 students sit the mid-year NZQA Literacy Reading and Writing Examinations, with a further opportunity available in October if needed.
Topics covered: Heroes and Villains, Myths and Legends, Reading Portfolio, Writing Portfolio, and Lights, Camera, Action!
Course contributions
Students are asked to contribute $40 (tbc) towards the cost of access to the online Education Perfect website & the Cengage Literacy Essentials write-on workbook.
