Level 1 Religious Studies builds on the skills developed in Year 10. This is students' first encounter with NCEA allowing them the opportunity to bring detail and depth to their learning within the context of NZQA achievement standards.

Assessment
Four achievement standards are offered as part of this course - two are internal assessments and two are external examinations. All assessments are worth 5 credits each.
1.1 Demonstrate understanding of the development of a community that shares religious or spiritual beliefs (5 Credits, Internal)
1.2 Demonstrate understanding of how a significant narrative relates to a religious or spiritual tradition (5 Credits, Internal)
1.3 Demonstrate understanding of a characteristic of religious or spiritual traditions (5 Credits, External)
1.4 Demonstrate understanding of perspectives of different religious or spiritual communities on an issue (5 Credits, External)
