Course Description
This course builds on the geographic skills, concepts and thinking from Level 2 Geography. Students will evaluate aspects of a contemporary event from a geographic perspective, showcasing how Geography can be applied to the real world. Local and global issues are also explored through primary and secondary research, with greater autonomy provided than at Level 2. As an internal-heavy course, students will need to be able to work independently and showcase strong geographic thinking and writing skills.
Topics covered:
Analyse the planning, decision making and impact of a contemporary geographic event
Conduct geographic research
Analyse aspects of a contemporary geographic issue, including perspectives and solutions.
Analyse aspects of a topic from around the globe – select your own topic
Demonstrate understanding of an environment using a variety of geographic skills, concepts and perspectives.
Recommendations for subject entry
If Level 2 Geography taken, then 12 credits required including one external. If Geography is not taken, then 14 credits form Level 2 English (including one external).
