Year 9 English/Social Studies

Course Description

English enables us to communicate with others and share and receive information, in both written and spoken forms. This course builds on key literacy skills such as reading, writing and comprehension by looking in depth at poetry, short stories and novels. We also look at important topics within the student’s world, such as sustainability and identity, to ensure that they are knowledgeable both about their own lives and the world around them.

Topics covered: Written text study, Poetry, Identity and Culture, Writing, Sustainability, Speech.

Course contributions

Students are asked to contribute $40 (tbc) towards the cost of access to the online Education Perfect website and a Skills workbook for each student.
