ECO200: Level 2 Economics

Course Description 

This course focuses on topical economic issues in New Zealand and applies economic ideas to them. Through the topics of Growth, Employment, Trade and Government Policy, students will gain an understanding of New Zealand’s economy and its place in the world. Students will cover the overriding issues that face New Zealand as an open economy and use economic models to understand them.

Topics covered: Analyse international trade, economic growth, unemployment, inflation and government policies using economic concepts and models.

Prerequisite

If Level 1 Economics was taken in 2023: 12 credits in Level 1 Economics with a pass in the two external standards. If Level 1 Economics was not taken in 2023: 12 credits in Level 1 English and 12 credits in Level 1 Mathematics.

Assessment

Assessments will be a combination of two internal assessments in class and two external achievement standards.
