Course Description
This course will enable students to develop their oral and written language skills in Te Reo. Students will also continue to develop an understanding and appreciation of Tikanga Māori.
Topics covered: Te Kura me te Akomanga/ School and Classroom • Te Kainga me te whānau/ My Home and Family • Hui Māori/ Māori meetings and gatherings • Kōrerorero/Conversations
Recommendations for subject entry
Students are recommended to have taken Year 10 Te Ao Māori or equivalent.
Assessment
For the internals students will be required to produce portfolios of their speaking and writing and will also have their ability to understand spoken Māori assessed. The external examination will focus solely on the written aspects of the course.
1.1 Te kōrerorero i ngā pārongo, i ngā ariā me ngā whakaaro (Internal, 5 Credits)
1.2 Te whakapuaki whakaaro e pā ana ki tētahi horopaki e ora nei te reo (Internal, 5 Credits)
1.3 Te whakaatu i te māramatanga ki te reo Māori me ōna mātāpono i tētahi horopaki e taunga ana (External, 5 Credits)
1.4 Te tuhi e pā ana ki tētahi horopaki e taunga ana (External, 5 Credits)
