University Entrance

University Entrance (UE) will continue to be the minimum requirement to go to a New Zealand university. Once you have met the requirements for University Entrance it will appear on your Record of Achievement.

Remember:

- University Entrance gives entrance to university, but you need to carefully check the 'guaranteed entry score' requirements, as well as anything specific for individual courses/degree programmes.
- You can accumulate credits over more than one year.
- Universities and other tertiary providers will use NCEA results for entry selection.
- Good grades in achievement standards, such as Excellence or Merit, will be advantageous, particularly in selection for limited entry course.

GUARANTEED ENTRY SCORE/ENTRY REQUIREMENTS (NZ UNIVERSITIES)

While University Entrance is the minimum requirement for entry into a New Zealand University, there are also 'guaranteed entry scores' for many of the universities, both for general entry and entry into some restricted entry courses. For restricted entry courses you will need to gain both UE and the specific requirements for that course. Make sure you know what these requirements are. Every university has its own way of calculating the Guaranteed Entry Score so go to their websites listed below and find out what they require. Entry requirements can change year to year, so check the university websites for the most up to date enrolment requirements.
