Course Description
Drama offers students the ability to explore life from a variety of different perspectives. This course provides a balance of theoretical learning and practical performance, and students will be actively encouraged to participate in wider drama activities, both in and outside of school.
During the year the students will explore Aotearoa playwrights, create a drama, use techniques in a scripted role and respond to a drama performance.
Assessment
1.1 - Explore the function of Aotearoa playwrights (5 cr int)
1.2 - Participate in creative strategies to create a drama (5 cr int)
1.3 - Use drama techniques to perform a scripted role for an audience (5 cr ext)
1.4 - Respond to a drama performance. (5 cr ext_
The emphasis is on individual and group performance and learning in this 20-credit, internally and externally assessed course. In this course, the process - whether it be the interpretation of a role or a devised piece - is equally as important as the performance piece. Process will be assessed along with the final product.
