Course Description
This course is an introduction to Level 1 Design and Visual Communication. It requires research into designers, spatial design as well as product design. During the course, students develop creativity skills using the design process as well as drawing skills that will carry through to senior DVC.
Topics covered: General skills in freehand, render and instrumental construction using drawing boards and instruments • Design of a spatial (architectural) building • Design of a product (everyday objects) • Introduction to Google Sketch Up and Inventor
Recommendation for subject entry
An ability to work with drawing instruments and in freehand. A desire to learn IT for 3D, a desire to learn new skills.
Assessment
General skills in freehand, render, and instrumental construction using drawing boards and instruments.
Design of a spatial (architectural) building.
Design of a product (everyday objects).

Course contributions
Students are encouraged to use the drawing kits they purchased in year 9. A Drawing Kit can be purchased if required. A4 sketchbooks can also be ordered as top-ups. Students who are new to the course will have to buy a Drawing Kit and sundries ($40.00).
