Basic time management requires some basic techniques and this is probably the most basic of all: time should be allocated depending on whether a task is important or urgent or both; this results in a nice 2 x 2 matrix for stating the obvious. This is discussed here.
This process of categorisation tends not be particularly effective for teachers, but you DO need to have a clear understanding of what is urgent and what is important in your life.
