TM4T NQT - Technology Choice

If you are an ICT, Computing or other teckie teacher, you will have noticed something about the software and other resources that we tend to engage with here at TM4T. You will notice that we put things onto PowerPoint slides, even though we could quite easily turn them into Web pages and host them on this site. We suggest that you download software onto memory sticks, even though similar software is available for Moodle and other learning environments.

Why is this? Are we just a little technically backward here at TM4T?  Well, no, not really. We simply have a consistent philosophy towards a teacher's mindset. We believe that teachers - and that includes you - need to be in control. They need their own resources (though they should share them), and as far as possible they should be able to operate independently, even without a Web connection. Of course, we assume some technology, because it would be silly not to, but we assume the very lowest common denominator in UK schools: a PC with MS-Office, a USB port and a projector. That's it.

Our technology approach is based on three factors: Independence. Control. Flexibility.
