TM4T Chronotypes - MG Actions

The lucky-old MG is pretty much in tune with most 21st century teaching, arriving at school ready to hit the ground running. Some kind of leadership role often beckons.  The MG teacher, however - and the MG leader - need to beware evening slumps. MG teachers are too frequently unaware of their own weaknesses and don't prepare adequately for evening work. They usually have good people skills and handle the social-contact-aspect of evenings well; but their decision-making, logic, energy and productivity are all likely to deteriorate after dusk.

The answer here is planning and preparation: parents' consultations, prize-givings, concerts and plays and governors' meetings: they all demand that you're aware and alert in the evening. This means you need to prepare for them, and avoid the classic errors of under-preparation. The classic error involves some important evening commitment: for example a presentation to the governors. You schedule a little time in the morning to prepare, and you are brimming with ideas, you're confident that you can deliver your message spontaneously, so you don't rehearse or prepare a script. Then evening comes, your spontaneity and creativity wither, and you really wish that you'd written a few more ideas down...

For the MG teacher, the best time for decision-making is the morning, from 06:00 to 11:00. Late morning is also the best time for exercise (not much chance, I know...).  Boring old admin is best tackled straight after lunch.  For social time, 'early' the key word. First thing in the morning (08:00) sees you in a good mood, but early evening and early afternoon are good too.
