TM4T Stress - The Armoury & The List

'How to Deal with Stress', 'Ten Stress-busting Techniques', 'Stress and How to Handle It'... any Teachers' website worth its salt will offer at least one list of tips along these lines.

The good news is that this is exactly the right way to tackle stress; the bad news is that you need to develop your own list of proven techniques - borrowing a list of what worked for someone else is very likely to work for you. This is because there are hundreds - literally hundreds - of stress management techniques and theories. All of them work, for some people, in some situations.  TM4T have reviewed all the techniques that we believe might be of use or interest to busy teachers, and we have added brief details below: these are what we call the Armoury. This is where you choose your weapons.

From this array, you need to select (over time) a few which work for you. This is what we call the List. It is exclusively yours. You might feel that another teacher, about your age, in a similar school, might have a similar list, but this is unlikely to be the case.  Different teachers have different backgrounds, different interests, different personalities - and different lists.

Now, sorry to keep banging on about this, but: stress can lead to serious illness, and you should consult a medical professional if you have physical symptoms which concern you. The armoury provides weapons for managing the middle ground; if that doesn't make sense to you, read here.
