Having chosen your workplace, you should organise it, with the intention of keeping it organised throughout the year. The TM4T system is lean in terms of paperwork and 'stuff'. It requires only an A4 notebook, a pen, a crate, a memory stick and a PC. The rest of your teaching life, however, will be simply brimming with physical stuff, depending on your subject discipline. Your teaching rooms and office space will be filled with drawers, trays, shelves, cupboards, and cabinets. All of this needs to be organised - not necessarily tidy, but organised. What this means is that everything (whether it is cooking ingredients, football kit, paints or exam papers) needs to have a place: there must be a place for everything, and each thing must have one and only one place.
You should get this clear at the beginning of year, and be prepared to negotiate with your colleagues during the course of the year. The basic 'flow' of materials must be crystal clear. Wherever it comes from, it goes into your Personal In Box ie PIB crate (unless it would take less than a minute to site it correctly) then it gets moved to its proper place later.
