The Joys of Teaching
First the PC, then the printer - they never fix things properly
We have constant, unnecessary meetings
The Deputy Head is nicknamed Can't-Listen-Won't-Listen
They're just not very well-organised people, I guess
My job definition isn't clear but she won't change it
I am constantly interrupted when I need to concentrate
My planing is stalled while I'm waiting for answers
They just give me too much silly work
Too many chiefs, not enough indians
My boss can't delegate, and he doesn't like me delegating
Communication is poor in every respect
He changes priorities all the time
My boss is the most indecisive man I've ever met
Even the most simple thing has bureaucracy attached
My priorities are clear, but they're also contradictory
I try to delegate, but he always leaves the work unfinished
My own aspirations? Never gets discussed
Morale across the school is low, and it rubs off
The people in the office seem completely untrained
The parents expect an answer to any question at the drop of a hat
I have to ask permission before I spend a penny
I can't even see the desk, there's so much paper
I spend my precious free time travelling between sites
I get lots of last minute work caused by somebody else's mistakes
The deadlines have changed. Again.
They expect me to return every phone call within 24 hours
Meetings over-run every time. No-one knows how to act as chairman
There are only two of us, and the other teacher's attitude is really poor
The department head admits that he is chronically absent-minded
The head teacher makes decisions quickly, but she changes them too often
If he spent less time in the pub, he wouldn't be so tired at work
I lack self-discipline. I take on too much
We never seem to achieve anything, just shuffle paper
Procrastination is his middle name
I seem to have lost my life outside school
The office is far too cluttered to do much work
He's a perfectionist; nothing I do is good enough
Most of the things that go wrong are down to poor planning
He gets preoccupied with one course, one unit, and everything else goes to pot
