Before 2005, I had a lot of frames and I moved the parts from frame to frame. In chronological order:

Pre-MTB era

3-wheeler

  • Similar to this one: http://retronom.hu/index.php?q=node/8337
  • Front wheel drive
  • We had it lying around until my age of 10
  • The handlebar snapped from the stem, pipe welders working next to our house were asked to fix it

Csepel Tacsko

Csepel Csillag (a later version of the folding Csepel Camping)

Csepel Csaba (a later, non-foldable version of the folding Csepel Camping) - originally bought for my sister

Legal age bikes

Mali Cobra complete bike

  • May 1994-1999?
  • Got it as a present for graduating from highschool, as a new complete bike
  • It had basic 3x6 Shimano TY shifting, steel rims, handlebar, stem, seatpost
  • Frame broke at rear dropouts, welded. Rigid fork bent at the crown.
  • The frame was very heavy (~3kg). In the end, I chopped it up with a saw

Balance CR.750 used frame

  • 1999-2003?
  • Replaced: Mali Cobra
  • Tange Prestige CrMo
  • Bought with a seatpost, needed a conversion of the drivetrain, a new fork etc
  • First frame I used with a suspension fork
  • Frame cracked at seatpost, Yasec fixed it
  • Frame sold
  • Suspension fork form August 2000

GT Corrado used frame

  • Replaced: Balance CR.750
  • True Temper GTX CrMo
  • Frame sold to a friend, the complete bike was stolen later from him

Magellan Pyxis Team 2001 frame

  • March? 2001 - July 2011
  • Easton Ultralite/Kinesis Al 7005, ~1680 g @ 20"
  • HUF 65000 as new
  • Originally bought while waiting for the Yasec
  • Started with a Bomber Z2 BAM, then a Pace RC36 fork, V-brakes
  • I still have it disassembled, but not in use

Yasec custom frame

  • Dedacciai CrMo, ~2200 g @ 20"
  • Aug 2001-2003
  • HUF 90000 as new
  • Heavy and the Pyxis Team proved to be a better frame
  • frame traded in for a pair of XTR/Mavic X517 wheels and a Syncros stem

Magellan Polaris AL '98 complete used bike

  • Kinesis Al 7005, ~2000 g @ 18"
  • bought for a cheap second urban/touring bike
  • Alivio/Kalloy parts
  • later used with Shimano Nexus7 hub
  • suspension fork replaced with a rigid CrMo
  • frame proved to be small for me (at 18") for commuting --> HiTec
  • sold with most parts as a complete bike

HiTec XCR 2000 frame

  • 2007 January: bought to replace the Polaris AL (bigger frame)
  • 2007 March/April: built with a Shimano Nexus7 hub
  • 2007 August: converted to my first singlespeed (42/16, then 46/16)
  • 2011 spring - summer: Briefly used for touring with the Rohloff Speedhub, On-One fork and disc brake in front
  • 2011 summer - 2013 autumn: frame held as a spare
  • 2013 October: built with 29er wheels and disc brakes for commuting

Magellan Polaris Extreme '01 custom bike

  • Kinesis Al plain gauge?, ~2000g @ 16,5"
  • used frame, wheels, fork and parts
  • bought for light freeride, 1x8 drivetrain
  • I still have the parts (frame, fork, wheels etc)
  • my father used it as a complete bike
  • 2011 December: frame bought (HUF 28 000)

Surly Steamroller '09 custom build

Cannondale Trail SL3 29er SS 2011, new complete bike.

Other bikes have I owned

  • 2003: Cannondale Super V 3000 SL (used) - the rear suspension was messed up, traded in for another Super V from the same seller
  • 2003: Cannondale Super V ???; rode like 5 times; eventually disassembled and soma parts were sold
  • 2011-2012: Ghost AMR Lector 7700 Carbon, Shimano XT and Fox, sold

Road bikes

Schwinn Csepel

  • Bought from a guy in a town/village next to Budapest (I took a train) for HUF 20 000
  • The bicycle was bought at Pap Kerékpár by the first owner
  • Made of cheap steel. There seemed to be a crack near the seatpost collar but it was hard to judge due the quality of the welding.
  • 10-speed stem mounted friction shifters, chrome plated steel rims, brake lever extensions etc.
  • Parts were not even from Shimano...
  • I wouldn't say it was utter crap, but very close to that
  • Later sold it to a friend (for half the price I bought it to be fair...).

F. Moser CrMo

  • Oria CrMo lugged frame and matching fork
  • Used bike with Shimano 300EX, RX100, 600 parts (and old Dura-Ace hubs!), downtube shifters and aero bars
  • The finish was originally pink, with chrome plated stays, previous owner painted it to black
  • Bought at Big Bike (Budapest) for HUF 70 000 (display price started from 110 000 but nobody wanted it) - can't really decide if it was overpriced
  • I did 200km+ on it several times (200km, 243km, 255km), but less than 2000km altogether
  • Roads discouraged me from using it (wheel damage)
  • I took it apart, then gradually got rid of most of it.
  • The frame and the remaining parts were sold to Benji (owner of the Melegedő pub).

Mata Allucx

See the page of Mata. The frame cracked.
