Cannondale Trail SL 29 3 2011 - Entry level 29er single speed MTB, bought for urban use.

Replaces my Surly Steamroller because I needed disc brakes and more robust wheels.

Purchased: November 2012

Shop: Mali

History

2012-Nov purchased as new

2012-Nov drivetrain replaced for urban SS (RaceFace 42/20)

2012-Nov crack discovered on right crank arm -> original Truvativ cranks back with 33/13

2013-?? SLX chainring and 42/17

2013-May crashed hard on cobblestone due to chain falling off/inadequate EBB tension (bruised knee and almost broken rib from handlebar)

2013-Oct After repeated failures, the bike was disassembled and prepared for sale

2013-Oct Frameset traded in for an Alfine11 hub and sent for belt conversion as requested by the buyer (frameset valued for ~50% of the original price of the bike)

2013-Nov Frame at the framebuilder, but he had an injury so the work is delayed

2014-Jan Frame conversion finished and back from builder

2014-Jan sale completed

Estimated mileage: 1000 km almost exclusively for commuting a daily 6km

How it looked right out of the shop:

Most parts are made in Taiwan including frame and rims. Weights are actual values measured by me.

Geometry: See Geometry

[2] Fork, headset crown

[3] Stem+bolts, cap+bolt

[5] (crank arms)+(chainring)+(5x chainring bolt)+(2x crank arm bolt)

[6] Hub, rim, spokes, spoke nipples

[7] Probably almost identical with the Maddux (Jalco) DXT 230 which has a braking surface and a claimed weight of 550g @ 622-18

Not measured: plastic chainguard, spoke guard, spoke reflectors

Sum (with original parts): ~11000 g

The bike is equipped with fenders now. The front fender is only for protecting the headset area, the rear doesn't reach down enough, but it catches most of the dirt.
