Brave New Voices

Brave New Voices is an English-language slam poetry championship that takes place each year in United States. It was founded in 1998 byYouth Speaks, a non-profit organization from San Francisco promoting youth intellectual and artistic self development. Brave New Voices is the largest youth poetry festival in the world.

The final contestants are judged by a jury composed of artistic personnalities. In 2010, the jury was composed by the illusionist and TV host Penn Jillette, poets Mayda Del Valle and Beau Sia, musician Talib Kweli and actress Sanaa Lathan.

Each finale of Brave New Voices is aired on HBO.
