Jon Stewart testified before the House Judiciary Committee on June 11, 2019, to advocate for the permanent reauthorization of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. He spoke on behalf of the 9/11 first responders and their families, many of whom were suffering from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

Stewart expressed his frustration and anger at what he called Congress's indifference and failure to properly fund the healthcare needs of these sick and dying heroes. He implored the committee to do their jobs and pass the legislation without delay or political maneuvering.
