Directions

• Each slide must define and provide examples of each of the poetic devices listed below.

• Your presentations should be creative and easy to understand. See my sample presentation (right)

• Most importantly, if one of your classmates had ONLY your presentation, he or she should be able to study for a test on the terms listed below.

• Alliteration

• Allusion

• Anaphora

• Apostrophe (poetry)

• Assonance

• Caesura

• Consonance

• Couplet

• End-Stopped Lines

• Enjambment

• Hyperbole

• Iambic Pentameter

• Imagery (poetry)

• Internal Rhyme

• Metaphor

• Meter

• Onomatopoeia

• Personification

• Rhyme Scheme

• Similes

• Stanzas

• Synecdoche

Criteria for Success

• Each slide should be creatively designed

• Each slide should provide multiple examples of the device being used in a poem (at least 2).

• Mention the name of the poem and poet for each example

• Don't use examples that I've already provided you with.

  • Each slide should make the poetic device easy to understand and easy to identify.

  • Experiment with animation (ask for help if you need it)
