Final Speech

Option #1- The 7 Day Challenge:

Change something about your life for at least one week then tell us about your experiences. Give something up, start something new, change the way you do something, change the way you think, speak, or act.

Maybe you want to exercise more, change the way you eat, change the way you think, reduce the amount of time you spend on your phone, etc

Keep a journal:

We will all start this challenge on the same day. Each day you will be required to write one journal entry reflecting on the experiences of that day. This journal will be on Google Classroom. I will check these journal every morning (and give you credit), so make sure your daily journal entry is completed before you go to bed.

The majority of this speech will focus on the “I”, “me,” “my” of the experience. Let your conclusion focus on the “we”.

7 day challenge ideas:

    • Writing a gratitude list each day

    • Take a break from social media

    • Stop complaining

    • Meditate

    • Exercise

Option #2-Storytelling

Tell a true story about an experience you’ve had and find a theme for that story to revolve around.

The majority of these speeches will focus on the “I”, “me,” “my” of the experience. Let your conclusion focus on the “we”.

Option #3-The Commencement Speech

from Wikipedia

A commencement speech, simply, is an opportunity to share your experience, values and advice. The precise form is up to you. This affords the speaker a platform to say amazing, unlimited things.

Your final speech will be a commencement speech. You will be the commencement speaker for the graduating public speaking class of 2018. These speeches will take place during the last 2 weeks of our semester together.
