Consumer Alert:Voluntary Recall LG Electronics, issues a voluntary recall of 457,000 LG/Kenmore Top Load Washer. Among the many consumer alerts during the month of December,the Consumer Product and Safety Commission released a National Consumer alert in December 2012 referencing specifically LG and Kenmore Elite Top Load Washers. Sold at Best Buy,Home Depot,Kmart,Sears and other local retailers,the Top Load Washers has been reported as a potential safety hazard to consumers and shoppers. As of to date,there has been 343 reports of the malfunctioning top load washers. And out of 343 reports of the top load washer malfunctioning,it has been reported that 187 actually caused consumers and shoppers property damage.As a result ,CPSC has released a statement on their web site informing consumers of the steps they should take to avoid injuries and property damage. Most importantly,if youre a consumer that owns one of the Top Load Washers mentioned in the recall as describe in the CPSC report then it is recomended that you contact LG or Sears immediately. Recently,Consumers and Shoppers had been alerted to use caution when selecting a energy drink. Sadly,in the United States,in the month of November,thirteen deaths had been linked to the energy drink known as the 5-hour energy drink. According to the Food Drug Administration,the high caffeine energy drink could have adverse effects on the health of consumers. In total,aside from the thirteen deaths reported in November,the 5-hour energy drink has also been linked to 92 patient reports and 33 hospitalizations.To read more about the effects of 5-hour energy drink visit the following: October 2012 National Consumer Alert:A Steriod Medication Linked to Menigitis Outbreak A recent menigitis outbreak in the United Stated during the month of October is said to be the cause of 130 death due to steriod injection. Reportedly,the fungal infection affected hundreds as well as spread to seven states. Fever,headaches,nausea,and new neurological deficits associated with brain strokes each a symptom related to having the menigitis fungal infection. Administered to patients in 23 states,a steriod medication has been report at the center of a rare fungal infection. Usually injected into patients to control back pain,the steriod medication under investigation has been linked to a deadly menigitis outbreak within the US September 2012: August 2012: July 2012: In July consumers and shoppers were notified of the potential fire hazard related to Ford Escapes. June 2012: At the beginning of the month consumers and shoppers, were informed of recall and safety hazards of Black & Decker Coffemakers. The recall stated reports of 1,200 handles breaking and reported 1,276 burns or cuts. A voluntary recall had been issued of Black& Decker's Spacemaker (12-cup programmable under-the-cabinet coffemakers) Sold at major retailers nationwide from July 2008 through May 2012.
