A Day With Local Authors

On June 30th, I participated in Local Author's Day. From the first announcement of the event,I knew instantly I wanted to be a part of the event. Veritably, I felt I had to participate as a new author to generate interest and to get feedback from readers, consumers, and shoppers about the content of the book. In the same instance,I knew that I wanted to participate in the event; I also knew it meant I had to prepare to greet and meet the public. After I confirmed that I would attend the event, I immediately began to advertise on the different Social Networking Sites that all interested in learning about the book could get more information about the book at the event as well as purchase discounted books. And in all honesty, I directed a lot of attention in June towards preparing for the event. As I prepared for the event all throughout the month of June ,mailing out postcards, and handing out business cards, days leading up to the event, I experienced some unexpected dreadfulness and awful feelings because the books to be sold at the event had not arrived a week before the event . Amazingly, the books did arrive a few days before the event. Eventually, the day arrived that I had to show up to keep the commitment I agreed to earlier in the month. So,at 9:30 am,I arrived at Main Street Library with much anticipation to meet and greet the public but most importantly to officially let consumers and shoppers know that the book had been released for sale. Dolefully, one of the down sides of the event it occurred the weekend before the Fourth of July . For that fact, I attribute the holiday as one of the main reasons the event didn't draw a large the crowd. Normally, on Saturdays I m working on something else if it's not my second book Every Girl's Guide to Stuff On A Budget & Inside Secrets About Stuff then it's the csaccac eNewsletter & Newsletter. On this particular Saturday, instead of opting out of the event, I attended Local Author's Day. Unequivocally, I had no regrets about the day, I’m glad I attended the event. Overall, I enjoyed the experience especially as a new author plus I got to meet local authors, view different genres and writing styles. ---cacjohnson
