“It takes a deep commitment to change and an even deeper commitment to grow”---Ralph Ellison

“Life has two rules:number 1,Never quit!;number 2,Always remember rule number 1'---Duke Ellington

Veritably, American consumers often make commitments to family, friends, coworkers, and employers such as commitments to attend birthday parties, office functions, commitments to attend weddings, and commitments to give back to the community if they win lottery. However,a commitment gets thwarted when there is an illness, loss of job or death in the family. In general, people make commitments with the intention of being able to fulfill and to keep the commitment.Certainly, people do not always keep their commitments for various reasons. What is commitment?Commitment is making the conscious decision to set aside one's personal time to attend special functions,to assist others and to complete specific task.Veraciously, most successful people at some point in their life has failed at something or completed a task poorly;indeed, they did not allow their failure to deter them from being successful;instead they learned from their failures and made a commitment to themselves to not quit.Imperceptibly, some of the most prominent athletes, writes, entertainers,tv personalities, lawyers, doctors and teachers encountered obstacles and failures in their careers.Although, today they enjoy the rewards of their hardwork, persistence, and commitment to achieving their goals, ultimately, with perservance and commitment to their goals, they did not allow the obstacles that they encountered to determine their success. Most importantly, commitment is settting aside time to work on task ,to attend special functions as w ell as being diligent, patient, persisent, consistent until a task or project is completed. Not surprisingly, American consumers often over commit themselves to various people and projects, consequently, they do not excell in one specific task.Typically,a person (consumer )that excels in a particular task has achieved beyond the expectations and standards set by others. What does it mean to excel? Basically, excel is to exceed the expection of others. It also means, excelling beyond personal limitations and expections that often requires a person(consumers )gives110% when others only give100%.

A fast pace, muticultural, multifacet society,American.people excel at different task at different intervals, from academics, business to the arts and entertainment. In the American society the opportunity for people of social backgrounds, ethnicity, and religions to excel is embbeded in its culutral as well as taught in its educational insitutitons. With education, and opportunity ,a large number of the American population has excelled in their careers.Conversely, what causes some members of society to excell while others remain at their lowest potential.? It's the ability of the individual to make commitments keep them, set goals and focus on specific task until their completion.Presumably, a majoriy of successful people make commitments, set goals and stick with them inspite of the naysayers, the economy, bad reviews or previous failures.Usually,a person that remains at their lowest potential is not successful or does not excel at task because they do not make a conscious decision to make a commitmet to set goals, and focus on a specific task. For example multitasking, multitasking is normal for many American consumers.Perfoming more than one task during the couse of the day especially for women, multitasking is as simple as driving car and putting on lipstick. What is multitasking?,it's the ability to perform several different jobs simultaneously, for instance;filing papers and faxing important documents, or viewing a music video and learning the lyrics to song while emulating dance moves.Egregiously, American people(consumers) perform several different task daily but do not master a specific task.In fact, a consumer might began a task but does not complete the task because of inadequacies, low self esteem, and lack of direction. On the other hand,a consumer could over estimate their ability to multitask,as result of the consumer over estimating his or her personal abltiy to perform several task simultaneously,a task does not get completed or the task is completed;however, it's poorly done. In other instances,a consumer that attempts to multitask could begin to feel overwhelmed and not try to attempt to complete the task . Incontrovertibly, multitasking has its advantages and disadvantges;it can also be dangerous, for example,a baby sitter watching televison instead of the newborn its bassinet or the driver talking on the cell phone instead watching for red lights and stop signs both examples illustrate the dangers of multitasking.A definite disadvantge of multitasking is it hinders one ability to be accurate, concise, sharp, and excel at specific task. First and foremost, making a commitment to excel requires a person set goals, and list task in order of importance, secondly, making a commitment requires the person undivided attention to a specific task until it its completion.Ostensibly,it's not easy to excel to in a set task when you have over commited yourselves to people, places and projects, just ask the mother who leaves the keys in the car running with an infant in baby seat while stopping to run in the grocery store to pick up an item; this is an example of extreme multitasking and it is very dangerous. But ,millions of Americans multitask daily heedlessly until a disastrous event direclty affect their lives.Essentially, a commitment to excel does requires in some instances speed, talent, precision and skill,at the same time,it also requires a person full attention Likewise with making an commitment to excellence ,it requires the individual undivided attention;,for instance, the American government has evince its commitment to ensure our youth receive a quality education, to ensure that our elderly receive quality health care, and to ensure that each and every American has access to health career. As members of the government enact and establish laws to ensure each those commitments is fulfilled, mainly part to the 2008 economic recession that caused businesses to file bankruptcy and million of Americans to lose their jobs, the American government immediately step up and took a more visible and active role ensuring that it keep its commitment to the American people.it take level of commitment from the individual to set goals and excel beyond personal limitations and standards set by others. Similarly,it takes deeper level of commitment from an individual to make a commitment to excellence despite surroundings, naysayers, the economy,or previous failures. A commitment to excellence is more than just excelling at a task its giving 110% when others remain satisfied with status quo.---cacjohnson
