The Arts for decades has helped to cultivate talent. When I think of the various Arts, I strongly believe that dance and song remains the most expressive. As a pre teen and teen, I remember watching the Alvin Ailey dancers on PBS.org_during those days ,the dance ensemble first caught my attention largely in part to the historical relevance of the choreographed movement that share some of the same history and semblance of the made for TV mini series Roots, except in this instance history was being told through dance. Fascinated by the body movement and the stories being told through dance, I considered the Alvin Ailey Dance Co. to of been experts in African American folklore, dance, and history. From classical ballet,to African rhythms ,to urban dance, years later I continue to love dance. In this decade and era,Youtube and Vevo allows Smartphone and tablet owners to watch an array of videos that include both dance and song. Of course, much different than decdes ago,the dances and songs of today tell a different story. Many of the stories told offer both a contemporary and modern view of life as we know it today. Throughout the years, dance and song has brought people from all walks of life together, telling a different story and conveying parts of history. I often compare videos from the 70s 80s 90s to the dances and songs of this generation and immediately recognize the difference and how the Arts has progressed over the years.
