Known for classical tunes such as Star Dust,"La Via en Rose", What A Wonderful World and his remake of Mack the Knife,Louis Armstrong wowed audience from Chicago to New York with his style and unique voice. His career spanned five decades,his voice,his sound thrived during the Swing and Big Band era,an American trumpeter,bandleader,singer,jazz musician and film star,Louis Armstrong is an Afro American pioneer whose life work has out live fad and trend. During his illustrious career,Armstrong appeared in several broadway productions including Aint Misbehavin. Born August 4th,1901 in New Orleans, Louis Armstrong began his career at Colored Waif's Home for Boys. Armstrong's vocal rendition of popular music during his era is considered the inspiration to some of music vocal greats such as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra,and Billie Holiday. His contribution to 20th Century music remains a historical legacy, Louis Armstrong an Afro American pioneer from 1901 to 1971.
