Introduction:

Testing out 1806 motors again in this newer style 540mm frame.

Components:

  • Dollar tree foam board
  • DSM receiver
  • 2x sg90 servos
  • Emax Simon series 12a ESC with 5v1a BEC
  • 5v 2a bec
  • 1806 2280kv motor with 5" carbon fiber prop

Conclusion:

Dry weight is 119g. Center spar was taped to the bottom of the wing since I forgot to put it in the middle during assembly. The 12a esc may actually not be enough on 3s, so we'll have to see how it does. The 1a bec on the esc powers the receiver while the separate 2a bec powers the servos separately to avoid brown outs.

Update 3/14/20 - Maidened it on a windy day and found it hard to control compared to the other wings. Hard to tell where the issue is, so I'll need to fly it again on a clamer day to see.

Update 3/28/20 - Finally found a clam day to fly this again. Definitely not as easy to fly as the w3631 due to the higher weight, but also performs rolls like crazy. I still prefer the 14xx sized motors as they perform the best for the weight.
