sfw-23627

Introduction:

Continuing the evolution of the plank with more power and a bit of sweep. I wanted to see how much more speed this can deliver over the old 2204 given the higher kv.

Components:

  • Foam board and pipe insulation

  • Emax 2306 2750kv motor (Gemfan 51466 prop)

  • Furibee 30a ESC

  • 5v bec x2

  • SG90 servo x2

  • Frsky xm+ receiver

  • Fullspeed F3 FC (leader 120 board)

  • Beitian 220 GPS

  • Foxeer arrow camera with a Hawkeye 200mw vtx

Conclusion:

207g dry, it came out quite a bit heavier than expected. I decided to power the FC thru the 5v bec since this is the one with the faulty design. I also had to reseat the gyro with a hot air station since it was flaky after a a rough time in the leader 120. This means the FC won't be able to display voltage in the OSD, but the osd on this board was rather flaky anyway. Either way, I don't think I'll be relying on it too much for anything other than the GPS features.

Update 9/2/20 - the maiden went well. No trims required. It has lots of torque as expected with insane roll rates. On 3s 850mah, I was able to achieve 119km/hr with an old lipo. Unfortunately the battery overheated and one of the cells died. I think with a fresher battery and a bi blade prop designed for speed, it can still go quite a bit faster.

I added fpv gear and now the dry weight is 231g.

Update 9/5/20 - I tested this at the airfield today and there were some major issues. Although it flies amazing LOS, the OSD wasn't working whenever the throttle came on with fpv. I'm pretty sure this is an issue with this old/flawed FC. I would replace it, but then it has secondary tuning issues as well. It would flutter a lot in autonomous modes (autolaunch, RTH). It actually flies fine in acro, but I am clueless as to what the real issue is since I don't even have OSD. As a result, I took out the fpv gear again and will just fly this as a normal LOS wing.

Update 10/23/20 - I figured out the issue and it flies fine in autonomous modes as well. It is heavy though and is hard to land except air mode makes it a bit easier.
