Meta65

Introduction:

I actually have quite a few 65mm quads already, but they've all been 1s. I wanted to try it on 2s and hence the Meta65.

Components:

  • Beta65x frame
  • Mobula7 canopy
  • Crazybee F3 Pro 1-2s FC/ESC
  • 0802 16000kv 19000kv motors (mobula7) x4
  • King Kong 31mm props
  • LST S2 AIO camera/vtx

Conclusion:

It weighs about the same as the Beta65x at 26grams. It flies really well on 2s with default PIDs. It is not an outdoor quad as it is highly susceptible to winds (even more so than the mobula7). Calm days are ok though. On 2s, I got 3:20 out of a Turnigy 260mah 2s coming down with 3.7v resting (using 4 bladed props). The same battery on the mobula7 would yield 3mins. To be honest, I thought the mobula would do better with battery life due to higher efficiency with larger props. Turtle mode was not an issue on 2s and had plenty of power for flipping.

1s performance with a 450mah battery yielded a sluggish 3:30. A 300mah yielded a little over 2mins and a 250mah yielded a little under 2mins all with the battery coming down with 3.95v. Turtle mode did not have enough power to flip over under any 1s option.

Update 1/26/19 - upgraded to 19000kv motors

Update 1/18/20 - removed the buzzer and swapped out the canopy for a lighter betafpv one to shed a couple of grams.
