tw2423

Introduction:

Continuation of my exploration with different wings. This is my first tapered wing. I was originally cutting out another swept forward wing, but saw that the shape left over in the foam board was in the shape of a tapered wing, so I decided to go with that instead.

Components:

  • Foam board (foam chuck glider for fuselage)

  • 2x sg90 servos

  • King Kong 2204 2300kv motor with Gemfan 51466 prop

  • Unknown 20am ESC

  • DSM receiver

Conclusion:

164g dry. I had real trouble maidening this one. At first, it had trouble getting enough lift, so I had to add a bit of reflex. After it took off, I was trimming it and trying to find the correct CG. It seemed to fly ok at speed, but was more unstable at medium speed that was not experienced with the plank wing pw2423 design. When I attempted to slow it down even further, it went into a tip stall which I was not able to recover from and ended up breaking the fuse. In all, it lasted only one battery.
