Introduction
My first time using the newt frame. They were on clearance, so it was a steal. The idea is a lightweight 1-2s vehicle. The most difficult part was learning how to crimp picoblade connectors on the motors.
Components
- RMRC Newt Frame
- EaglePower 1103 8000kv motors x4
- LDARC 65mm props x4
- Crazybee F4 Pro 1-2s FC & ESC
- Eachine TX06 AIO camera/vtx
Conclusion
The dry weight of this was 38grams. It flies very efficiently on both 1 and 2s. However, the 65mm props do not work well on 2s because they flex too much. I swapped to rotorx 3020 props and they fly much better on 2s.
Also, since it was my first time crimping these picoblade connectors, 2 of the motors didn't come out well and had to be reworked. Overall, I don't find my crimps to be reliable, so I'm going back to soldering instead.
Update 4/19/19 - This one flies really well, but one of the motors had 2 magnets come off after a hard crash. I also didn't like how the picoblades I crimped were not so reliable, so I decided not to replace the motor on this one.
