ng580-2205

After the new changes.

Introduction:

After finally building the nano goblin, I wanted to build a version with the exact same wing shape to see if I can make it better. This will probably be my final interation on the plank platform as I will most likely be moving on to other designs after this.

Components:

  • EaglePower SA1807 2300kv Emax RS2205 2300kv motor

  • Emax ES08MA II Analog Metal Gear Micro Servo x2

  • Noxe F4 flight controller

  • Beitian BN220 GPS

  • Crossfire Nano RX

  • Buzzer

  • Vivafpv 600mw vtx

  • Caddx turbo Micro Runcam swift camera

  • GuanLi 20a 2-3s esc with 2A BEC

Conclusion:

215g dry. I gave it a longer fuse to be able to use it on a larger variety of batteries and still be able to balance on the CG.

Update 4/29/21: Unfortunately, I got the CG incorrect. In order to continue with the maiden, I had to put 20g of weight in the back to balance it out.

I'll ended up putting on a bigger motor in the rear (2205) and making modifications to fix the CG. The emax servos felt good in manual mode though. I also didn't like the reddish hue on the caddx camera, so I swapped it out. I shortened the fuse to make it fit only for 3s li-ions and the new weight is 234g dry. It flies well even with the increased weight. The motor has a good amount of power, without feeling like it is too much for the wing. Since it's an older style motor, it doesn't fit some of the new gemfan props, which is the only real downside. It still needs a good tune, but I was comfortable enough with it to go out 7kms on the first run.

Efficiency Logs:

  • 22.18km (1523mah used) | 3s lion | 68.66mah/km | Flew 7km out and back

  • 15.33km (1203mah used) | 3s lion | 78.47mah/km | Flew proximity & low to the ground (not efficient flying)

  • 15.17km (1132mah used) | 3s lion | 74.62mah/km | 15mph winds

  • 15.64km (1104mah used) | 3s lion | 70.58mah/km | 15mph winds

  • 15.89km (1287mah used) | 3s lion | 80.99mah/km
