Twins!

Upgraded with EWRF 200mwh vtx!

Replaced EWRF with a VTX03 for better antenna clearance.

Introduction:

I picked up a pair of Full Speed Fighter 130s that came in a box of parts completely disassembled. This was perfect for me since I usually tear them apart to rebuild anyway. :)

Components:

  • Full speed Fighter 130 stock parts
  • Frsky xm+ receiver
  • EWRF VTX VTX03

Conclusion:

After putting it all together, it came to 73grams. I did the standard assembly with conformal coating and hot glue on solder joints. Everything came together fairly easily and this thing flies great. However, I did encounter significant range issues with the VTX. My guess is either an issue with the vtx itself or my receiver antenna. Since it's one of my larger quads, I'm going to replace it with a VTX03 anyway and try to fly this farther out.

Update 8/27/18: Replaced the VTX with a EWRF 200mwh switchable vtx. Never used this vtx before and wanted to try it out. Also routed the receiver antennas to the arms with a zip tie for a lower profile and hopefully better signal reception. Can't wait to try this out.

Update 9/26/18: The arm on one of the frames broke and I transferred everything into a leader 120 frame. The EWRF vtx was an improvement over the original, but there were still major issues that I believed were caused by the antenna being too low/close to the frame and so I replaced it with a VTX03 instead. Will need to see how it performs.
