ng580-f8022

Introduction:

Unfortunately, if you change up too many things at once, it's hard to figure out what is affecting what. I wanted to get to the bottom of the f80 power band, so I decided to put the guts of the fj650 (most of the components survived the salt water plunge) into another plank for comparison.

Components:

  • T-Motor F80 2200kv motor Brotherhobby 2207 1660kv

  • Tekko32 F3 Metal 65A esc 6s (burned out once and was replaced)

  • Turnigy 3a UBEC

  • Dollar tree Foam board & carbon fiber spar

  • TBS crossfire nano rx

  • Noxe F4 flight controller (flywoo version)

  • Beitian 220 GPS

  • Foxeer Falkor micro camera

  • JX PDI-1181MG servo (x2)

  • Vivafpv 600mw vtx with a stubby mounted on the bottom fuse (hidden under foam)

  • Buzzer

Conclusion:

270g dry.

Update 9/13/21 - The F80 motor doesn't seem to match well with these smaller wings. There doesn't seem to be enough power until it gets past the 50% throttle. I swapped it over to a 2207 1660kv motor instead.

The 2207 is a lot lighter and still very efficent. On 5" props with 4s, it needs about 60% throttle to maintain altitude. On 6" props with 4s, it needs about 50% throttle. On 6" 6s though, it only needs about 30% and feels really solid in the air. It needs a lot more testing to determine reliability.

Efficiency Logs:

  • 10.27km (616mah used) | 4s lipo | 59.98mah/km | 6" prop on 2207 1660kv

  • 10.88km (665mah used) | 4s lipo | 61.12mah/km | 6" prop on 2207 1660kv

  • 10.66km (609mah used) | 6s lion | 57.12mah/km | 6" prop on 2207 1660kv
