mig4740

Introduction:

I've been wanting to build this for a while now, so I finally committed to it. Thankfully, it only took about 4 hours to complete.

Components:

  • Mig 29 EPP foam chuck glider

  • DSM receiver

  • Turnigy plush 12a 2-4s ESC (??)

  • SZ Speed 1407 4000kv motor

  • 2x 5g servos

Conclusion:

92g dry. This came out lighter than I expected, so I was pleased. If this flies well, I am considering putting inav with a gps and fpv equipment on it.

Update 11/25/20: The maiden was rather difficult as I really had to turn down the roll sensitivity. I was initially unsure if the control surfaces had enough throw, but now I know it has more than enough. It has enough power to do really tight loops. However, without turning down the throws for roll, it was almost uncontrollable. After everything was tuned (also required a bit more reflex than I expected), it flew better than I expected (although not the speed demon I expected on 2s). Unfortunately, it's a bit small for flying too far away, so I have to keep it in close. Due to the low weight, the glide characteristic is great. Landings are really easy since I can just glide it in with low to no throttle. I'm curious to test it on 3s, but I'm not sure I'll convert it to fpv yet since it will most likely lose it's lightweight feel that I really like with all the added weight.
